Federal Law No. (10) of 2021 on the Regulation of Cemeteries and Burial Procedures covers all the conditions and regulations for cemeteries, and the competences of the authorities concerned with regulating cemeteries in each emirate in terms of setting and defining the areas and places for establishing cemeteries. It also defines the conditions and rules for establishing new cemeteries. The law also defines all the prohibitions that are related to dealing with graves or the deceased, and the procedures that are required for transporting and washing the dead, starting with the transportation permit, washing, shrouding and preparing the dead Muslim, and the non-Muslim as well, while setting regulations for places designated for washing the dead, and burial procedures for the dead or human organs, and specifies also the penalties that are applied on violations of the law, whether by fine or imprisonment based on the nature of the violation. The law includes the provisions of monitoring, inspection, guarding, securing and cleaning cemeteries, and the scope of the judicial police mission in proving violations of the provisions of this law.
