The Cabinet Resolution No. (6) of 2020 on Endorsement of Regulations of Cord Blood and Stem Cells Storage Centers prescribes the conditions for licensing healthcare facilities that intend to perform activities related to umbilical cord blood, stem cells and other nucleated cells derived from blood-forming cells, including bone marrow, peripheral blood and umbilical cord blood.
The resolution also sets a quality and safety standard for stem cells and human tissues intended for human applications, and provides a basis for the concerned authorities to evaluate the performance of licensed facilities to ensure safe and high-quality services that protect the donors, beneficiaries and community. The resolution provisions enlist the rules and standards that must be applied to all procedures related to umbilical cord blood, stem cells and other nucleated cells derived from hematopoietic cells, fetal tissues, embryonic stem cells, blood and its derivatives (excluding hematopoietic stem cells), reproductive cells and human organs are excluded from the resolution.
