Federal Decree-Law No. (10) of 2022 on Regulating the Registration of Births and Deaths Cases

The provisions of this Federal Decree Law shall apply to cases of death and birth within the UAE and those that occur outside the country for citizens and those specified by a decision of the Minister of Health and prevention.

Under the decree law, the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) shall establish a unified national registry for birth cases registration and another registry for deaths cases across the UAE. Every health establishment shall establish another two registrations according to its jurisdiction. Whereas the decree law sets the legislation related to the death and birth cases, as the health establishments that have death and birth cases shall inform the concerned department within (72) hours from the time of death or birth. The decree law covers the legislation related to informing about the birth, obtaining new-born certificate, birth certificate for a non-resident citizen, besides all that related to the birth certificate and giving birth information for those with unknown fathers or parents, in addition to the legislation of the death notification, death certificate issuance, stillbirth notification, citizen death cases outside the country and the unknown death cases.
